| Paul Minett, co-developer of the HOVER system, will be in Toronto in January for meetings with local officials who are considering a feasibility study to evaluate implementing HOVER in the GTA. There will also be a public meeting. The network of HOV lanes and existing carpool parking lots makes the GTA an ideal location for HOVER, according to Mr Minett. He will be in town from the 15th to the 17th, before heading on to Washington DC for similar discussions there. He is based in Auckland, New Zealand, though he grew up in Northern British Columbia. When last in Toronto he met with officials from Barrie, Markham, Toronto City Council, Toronto Transit Commission, and the Ministry of Transport. The meeting this time will see these people get together and consider a proposal for the feasibility study. The public meeeting, which will focus on ridesharing in general as well as the HOVER system, will be held as follows: Monday 15 January 2007, 7pm-9pm, Toronto Reference Library, Bloor and Yonge St, Beeton Room West. All Welcome. |
